Northern Ireland Attempts Peace Again

artane online Northern Ireland's local legislature has convened in Stormont, Belfast again for the first time since it was dissolved in sectarian infighting over three years ago. The creation of this legislature in which Catholics and Protestants would govern together was a major provision of the 1998 Good Friday agreements.

There was still a great deal of uneasiness among the leaders of the parties which advanced varying assessments on the chances for a lasting peace.

Catholic leaders of Sin Fein expressed strong support for the reconvening of the Parliament and stated that this was the only way to end the violence which has gripped Ireland.

"I'm very flattered," Andrea told Hellomagazine.com on hearing of her hat-trick. "I'd really like to thank everyone who took the trouble to vote for me."

Martin Sheen going back to College in Ireland

DUBLIN August 28, 2006 - US Hollywood Star Martin Sheen is now taking on a real-life Rodney Dangerfield role by enrolling back in College in Galway at the National University Ireland.

Sheen, who most recently completed a run on the television series "The West Wing" will take courses this semester in Oceanography, philosophy and English literature.

It is not well known that Sheen is half Irish, with his mother coming from County Tipperary. Many fans are aware that Sheen's father is Mexican and his original name is Ramon Estevez. One of his sons Emilio chose to retain his original name and his other son Charlie opted to retain his father's stage name.

Martin, who is now 66, has stated that he wished to continue his education because he never finished High School - however last year the National University Ireland in which he is now taking courses gave him an Honorary Degree.
